ABOUT

Michelle Stewart is a Senior Lecturer and Academic Leader for the program of Digital Arts at The University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. She has an MA in fine art and a PhD in animation practice and theory. She is active in publishing, teaching, and supervising within her research fields of animation, fine art and the digital arts which includes a broad approach to practice-based methodologies and related critical theoretical discourse.  Her animated works have been represented on The International Film Festival ( Belgium), The Manifesto Film Festival (Amsterdam, The Animation and Social Engagement Symposium (Texas) and the International Symposium of Electronic Art and was awarded ‘Best Animation’ at the Euro-Kino Film Festival in Prague.
